Ryanair Opens New Base in Tirana With 21 Routes Across Europe
Ryanair opened a new four-aircraft base at Tirana International Airport in late March, launching 21 routes connecting Albania's capital to cities across Western Europe.
Services include flights to Brussels Charleroi, Paris Beauvais, Dortmund, Milan Bergamo, Rome Fiumicino, Basel, London Luton, and Larnaca in Cyprus, among others. Most routes operate two to three times weekly.
Albania has quietly emerged as one of Europe's fastest-growing tourism markets. The country's Adriatic and Ionian coastlines, UNESCO sites, and low cost of living have attracted budget-conscious travelers looking for alternatives to overcrowded Mediterranean destinations.
Ryanair's commitment of four permanently based aircraft signals confidence in sustained demand. The carrier negotiated incentive deals with the Albanian government to support the base launch.
For travelers, Tirana now has direct budget connections to major European cities for the first time on this scale. A week on the Albanian Riviera — with flights, accommodation, and meals — can cost less than a few nights in Barcelona or Santorini.
