Atmos Rewards earning choice opens October 1

Atmos Rewards members can choose how they earn points and status points beginning October 1, 2026. Alaska Airlines says the selected method will apply to flights departing January 1, 2027, or later.

The options are distance traveled, price paid and flight segments. The announced rates are one point per mile, five points per dollar spent on eligible airfare and premium cabin upgrades, or 500 points per segment.

Alaska first announced the three earning models when it launched Atmos Rewards last year. This update gives members a date to make their selection and clarifies when the choice takes effect.

Choosing is optional. Current members who make no selection will continue earning based on distance. Members who join on or after January 1, 2027, will default to earning based on price paid.

Members can change their earning choice once per calendar year for future travel. Existing members who want to retain distance-based earning do not need to make a selection.

The selection opens October 1, but applies only to flights departing January 1, 2027, or later. Members planning travel from that date can compare the three methods before choosing.
