Breeze Airways Adds First Central American Routes With Nonstop Tampa-Costa Rica Flights
Breeze Airways is pushing deeper into the international market with two new routes out of Tampa International Airport.
The budget carrier announced nonstop service to San José, Costa Rica, starting October 3, 2026 — its first foray into Central America. A second route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, launches July 2. Both will operate twice weekly.
The expansion brings Breeze's international network to five destinations, joining existing service to Cancún, Montego Bay, and Nassau.
Tampa International Airport CEO Michael Stephens called the announcement significant, noting the city hasn't had direct flights to Costa Rica's capital in over 25 years. The routes capitalize on Tampa's growing demand for leisure destinations south of the border.
Breeze, founded by JetBlue creator David Neeleman, has built its model around underserved city pairs and low base fares. Adding Costa Rica — one of the most popular eco-tourism destinations in the Americas — fits that playbook.
Fares and booking details are available on the Breeze Airways website.
