Alaska and Hawaiian Launch Atmos Rewards With Three Earning Modes
Atmos Rewards, the combined loyalty program from Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, launched in early April with a structure that lets members pick how they earn points and status. Members can choose distance flown, dollars spent, or segments completed.
The three-mode system is a first for a major airline loyalty program. Members select a mode at the start of the qualifying year and can switch once mid-year. Distance favors long-haul flyers, segments rewards short-flight commuters, and dollars suits premium-cabin travelers willing to pay for upgrades.
Status tiers carry over the familiar MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K, and MVP Gold 100K names from Alaska Mileage Plan. Benefits include preferred seating, complimentary upgrades, and free checked bags on Alaska, Hawaiian, and partner airlines including American and Qantas.
Existing Alaska Mileage Plan and Hawaiian Pualani balances have been converted to Atmos Points at a one-to-one rate. Award charts are unified, with one-way Hawaii fares from the U.S. mainland still bookable from 12,500 points.
The merger creates one of the largest loyalty programs based in the western U.S., consolidating Hawaiian's Pacific routes and Alaska's growing long-haul network. Members should review which earning mode best matches their booking pattern before locking in their selection.
