Air India's new Mumbai-Toronto service will include a Rome stop on the outbound journey, rather than operating nonstop in both directions, according to Simple Flying's October 21 report.

The airline's latest schedule shows westbound flights stopping at Rome Fiumicino. The return service from Toronto Pearson to Mumbai will operate nonstop.

Flights are scheduled three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The westbound service carries flight number AI193, while the return is AI192.

Air India plans to use a 328-seat Boeing 777-300ER with first, business and economy cabins. The reported configuration includes 40 lie-flat business-class seats.

For travelers heading to Toronto, the Rome stop brings the scheduled journey to more than 20 hours. The two directions therefore offer different itineraries: a stop westbound and a nonstop flight back to Mumbai.
