Amtrak has completed accessibility upgrades at its Hamlet and Rocky Mount stations in North Carolina. In an Oct. 7 announcement, the railroad said officials celebrated the finished projects this week.

The work represents more than $10 million in investment across the two stations. The projects focused on station access, safety and the passenger experience.

At Hamlet, approximately $3.2 million funded two 200-foot accessible boarding platforms, accessible pathways and walkways, safety barriers, LED lighting, detectable warning systems and new signs.

At Rocky Mount, approximately $7.3 million funded an 840-foot accessible boarding platform. Improvements also include LED lighting, detectable warning systems and new signs.

For travelers using Rocky Mount, the completed work includes accessible pathways connecting the station with parking areas and the public right-of-way. At Hamlet, the upgrades include accessible walkways and boarding platforms.
