About

To their 166,000 YouTube subscribers, the couple known as Snow and Curt are living a global fantasy. They are the architects of “The Chill Daze,” a digital media brand built around the seductive promise of radical freedom. Their narrative is potent: a Florida couple who, before turning 50, liquidated their lives, sold their home, retired from their careers, and moved into a 94-square-foot self-converted Mercedes Sprinter van with their two cats. But a deep investigation into public and corporate records reveals a more complex and calculated story than the one presented in their sun-drenched vlogs. Behind the carefully constructed brand of escapism lies a premeditated business plan and a dark chapter from the past involving a fatal car crash and a felony conviction, a history that redefines the meaning of “leaving our old life behind.”

Snow & Curt: How It Started

Curt: History and Growth

The public story of Cynthia “Snow” White and Curtis “Curt” Davison begins with a dramatic life change. As their channel description proclaims, they decided to “turn our life upside down at 50 to join the Full Time Van Life.” Their journey, they state, is a 15-year plan to circumnavigate the globe. The first video series, documenting their travels across the United States, launched in June 2019.

However, the timeline of their business preparations suggests this was anything but a spontaneous leap. State of Florida records show their corporate entity, CHILLDAZE INC., was officially filed on November 14, 2016, under document number P16000091184—more than two and a half years before their first travel vlog. Their YouTube channel itself was created even earlier, on April 30, 2014. This chronology points not to a retirement whim, but to a deliberate, multi-year strategy to build a media business.

With the legal framework in place, their travels began in earnest. Accompanied by their cats, Vanna and G, their journey has been carefully cataloged in a series of professionally produced seasons. Series 1 covered the USA from June 2019 to January 2020. They then moved into Mexico for Series 2, a period where the COVID-19 pandemic stranded them and forced a temporary move into an apartment, a challenge they adeptly wove into their content. From January to October 2021, Series 3 saw them traverse Central America. An extensive tour of South America, comprising Series 4 through 12, followed from late 2021 to November 2023. They have since documented their travels through Europe (Series 13), a grueling journey through West Africa (Series 14), and are currently in Southern Africa for Series 15.

Snow & Curt Content: Evolution and Style

Curt: Content and Style

Snow and Curt’s content is a polished blend of aspirational travelogue and gritty reality. Their videos are structured like a television series, offering viewers a consistent narrative arc as they move from continent to continent. They showcase stunning landscapes, from the Cubango River in Namibia to the salt pans of Etosha National Park, but they do not shy away from the immense challenges of their lifestyle.

In fact, hardship has become a central pillar of their brand. Mechanical failures are not just problems; they are multi-episode story arcs. A “terrifying incident” in Namibia where a wheel came off their Sprinter van became compelling content, as did the severe vehicle issues in West Africa that required them to fly to Paris for parts. Personal crises are also documented for their audience. A major medical issue in South America was transformed into a 15-video playlist titled “Knee Surgery in South America.” This strategy of turning setbacks into content builds a powerful bond with their audience, creating a narrative of resilience that viewers find both authentic and engaging.

How Snow

How Snow & Curt Makes Money

Curt Makes Money

The “Snow & Curt” channel is the public face of a well-organized and diversified business operating under their Florida-based corporation, CHILLDAZE INC. Their monetization strategy extends far beyond simple YouTube ad revenue, creating a resilient financial model capable of sustaining a capital-intensive global journey.

Their revenue streams are built directly into their content. They actively solicit direct audience support through YouTube’s Channel Memberships, promising perks like “guaranteed comment response” for a recurring monthly fee. A one-time donation link using their corporate PayPal handle, “chilldaze,” is a standard feature in every video description.

Affiliate marketing is a cornerstone of their enterprise. They operate a comprehensive Amazon Influencer storefront, amazon.com/shop/snowandcurt, curating lists of the gear they use, from van components to camera equipment, and earning a commission on every sale. They also monetize their production workflow with affiliate links for music services Epidemic Sound and MusicBed. They have cultivated direct partnerships with niche brands critical to their lifestyle, such as Redodo lithium batteries and SumoSprings vehicle suspension.

The business model is further solidified by direct paid sponsorships. A recent video from Namibia explicitly disclosed a partnership with eSIM provider Airalo, complete with the hashtag #paidbyairalo and a custom discount code, “S&C3,” for their followers. Their official website, TheChillDaze.com, serves as the central hub for this commercial network, funneling viewers toward these various monetization channels.

Snow & Curt's Network and Collaborations

Curt's Collaborations

While their journey is largely presented as a solitary venture, their content documents a network of contacts and collaborators. During their travels in Namibia, they featured their guide at the Onguma Wildlife Reserve, a man named Perceville. While in Albania, they filmed with Curt’s visiting cousin, Mike. They have also leveraged their audience for logistical support, mentioning in one video how a “subscriber couple” assisted them in receiving a Starlink satellite internet package in France. Their legal names were first publicly confirmed in a June 2020 blog post by an acquaintance, Terry Matthews-Lombardo, who wrote about their experience being locked down in Mexico.

Snow & Curt: Public Reception

Curt: Public Reception

The brand Snow and Curt have built is predicated on authenticity and a trust-based relationship with their audience. They present themselves as ordinary people on an extraordinary journey. However, public records maintained by the State of Florida reveal a history for Curtis Blaine Davison that stands in stark contrast to this carefully curated persona.

According to the official court record of DAVISON v. STATE (1996), on November 28, 1994, in Leon County, Florida, Curtis Davison was the driver of a Nissan 300 ZX in a high-speed, single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of his passenger, Michael Mannella. The District Court of Appeal of Florida, First District, opinion affirming his conviction notes that evidence at trial established Davison was driving between 89 and 94 miles per hour on a dark road with a 45 mph speed limit. The court record states he had consumed alcohol, was fatigued from working a 16-hour shift as a restaurant manager, and was unfamiliar with the high-performance vehicle.

Following the crash, Davison told investigating officers that the deceased passenger had been driving. This claim was refuted by physical evidence. A jury subsequently convicted Davison on three counts: manslaughter by culpable negligence, perjury not in an official proceeding, and making a false report regarding a traffic incident. His conviction and sentence were affirmed on appeal on December 13, 1996.

This legal history, which has never been acknowledged on any of their platforms, introduces a significant and unaddressed vulnerability for the Snow & Curt brand. The conviction for causing a death through negligence and then lying about it to authorities fundamentally complicates their public identity. The narrative of “leaving our old life behind” is no longer just about escaping the 9-to-5 grind; it is also about leaving behind a past defined by a tragic and legally consequential event.

Snow & Curt Today

Curt Today

Snow and Curt continue their journey, currently filming Series 15 of their grand tour in Southern Africa. They have successfully built a durable media business that monetizes a life of perpetual motion, selling a dream of escape to a dedicated online community. Their operation is a example of modern content creation: professional, strategic, and deeply integrated with their lifestyle. Yet, the brand’s foundation of relatable authenticity is challenged by the public record. The story of Curtis Davison’s 1996 manslaughter conviction does not negate the miles they have traveled or the content they have created, but it permanently alters the context of their narrative. Their journey is not just one of geographic exploration, but of profound personal reinvention, built on an open road and a past that remains, for their audience, entirely closed.
