About

Eli Solidum is the travel writer and photographer behind The Partying Traveler, sharing both solo adventures and social moments abroad. Readers can explore mountain journeys, personal travel essays, photography and group-trip resources. On his About page, Eli describes more than nine years of nearly full-time travel and a storytelling approach that began with sharing misadventures through humor and authenticity.

The Partying Traveler: stories and practical guides

Eli describes his work as encouraging people to take their first solo trips, creating helpful travel guides and taking travelers abroad on group trips. His personal essays offer a different kind of usefulness: they show how a journey feels, including exhaustion, spontaneous decisions and encounters with other travelers. His work spans a travel blog, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, with written accounts and photography providing complementary ways to explore his experiences.

Long journeys and slower travel

In a Matador Network interview published on March 22, 2023, Eli recalled spending a year traveling overland from Colombia to Argentina by bus or hitchhiking. He described South America as a favorite region for long-term backpacking, where travelers following similar routes repeatedly crossed paths and developed friendships.

The interview also explains his approach to transport and environmental concerns. Eli said he tries to travel overland or by sea unless flying is necessary. He discussed public transport, cooking meals, limiting single-use plastics and picking up litter. These are his stated practices and reflections, rather than a claim that his journeys have no environmental impact.

Mountain stories from Peru, Sri Lanka and Cape Town

Hiking is a recurring subject. Eli named Peru’s Cordillera Huayhuash and Cordillera Blanca, and Bolivia’s Cordillera Real, among his favorite mountain ranges. In his Peru account, he describes a 90-kilometer trail to Machu Picchu, using the landscape to reflect on feeling both powerful and small in the mountains.

His Adam’s Peak essay begins with a 2 a.m. alarm before the sunrise climb in Sri Lanka. Beyond the physical challenge, it focuses on the shared experience of people from different backgrounds climbing together. In his Cape Town story, a sunset hike up Lion’s Head follows an earlier hike on Table Mountain. These are first-person accounts of effort, weather and atmosphere, not comprehensive route instructions.

Pakistan expeditions and dated trip listings

Group travel is another part of Eli’s work. In March 2023, he said he planned to host his first group trip in the Philippines and then guide back-to-back expeditions in northern Pakistan. Those statements describe plans at that time, not current departures.

The El Sol Expeditions page lists Highlights of Pakistan: The Classic Northern Pakistan Tour for June 21 to July 4, 2026, and Peaks of Pakistan: More Mountain Magic for September 23 to October 5, 2025. Both listed date ranges are past. The page provides links to trip details and itineraries, while his portfolio homepage features a Pakistan Group Expedition gallery.

Photography, portfolio and media

In the 2023 interview, Eli said he mainly photographed with an iPhone 14 Pro. He described photography as a way to capture a place’s particular character, rather than the reason for choosing a destination. His portfolio also lists stories about Sumidero Canyon, San Cristobal de las Casas and the Amazon rainforest, extending its scope beyond mountain travel. For professional inquiries, his press page points to a media kit and business contact options.
