Venice has reinstated its access fee for day-trip visitors across 60 specific dates in 2026, expanding the program after a limited 2025 trial. The fee applies from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on selected high-traffic days.

The 2026 calendar covers most weekends and several long weekends from April through July, with concentrated blocks in late April, weekends in May, the first two weeks of June, and mid-July. The historic city center is the only zone affected, with Lido, Murano, Burano, and the other islands excluded.

Visitors over 14 pay 5 euros if they register at least four days before arrival. The price doubles to 10 euros for last-minute or same-day registration. Payment is handled through the official site at cda.ve.it and returns a QR code that is checked at seven access points around the historic core.

Several groups are exempt, including overnight guests who book any hotel, B&B, or short-term rental in the city, children under 14, residents and their relatives, students enrolled in Venice institutions, and travelers visiting for documented work or healthcare reasons.

For travelers planning a summer Italy trip, the fee is small but the administrative step is real. Booking ahead and downloading the QR code on a phone before arrival avoids queueing at one of the city's entry points, which can stretch past an hour during the morning rush.
