European Sleeper revived the Paris-Berlin overnight rail route in March 2026, running three times per week with stops in Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne, and other cities along the way.

The service fills a gap left when traditional night trains between the two capitals were discontinued years ago. Passengers board in the evening and arrive the next morning, skipping a night of hotel costs and a day of travel time.

Couchettes and private sleeping compartments are available alongside standard seating. Prices start around 49 euros for a seat and climb to several hundred euros for a private cabin.

The revival is part of a broader European night train renaissance. New high-speed rail connections are also opening between Belgrade and Budapest, where a $1 billion infrastructure upgrade now carries passengers at speeds up to 125 miles per hour through northern Serbia.

For travelers trying to reduce their carbon footprint, overnight trains offer a practical alternative to short-haul flights between major European cities — with the added benefit of arriving in the city center rather than a suburban airport.
