The EDITION Lake Como Opens in a Restored 19th-Century Palazzo
The Lake Como EDITION opened in March, converting a 19th-century palazzo into a 148-room luxury hotel on the shores of one of Italy's most sought-after destinations.
The property features the first Italian restaurants from Mauro Colagreco, the Argentine-born chef behind the three-Michelin-starred Mirazur on the French Riviera. The dining program includes a lakeside restaurant and a more casual terrace concept.
Design blends the palazzo's original architectural details — vaulted ceilings, stone facades, terraced gardens — with EDITION's signature contemporary minimalism. Rooms start at around 600 euros per night in shoulder season.
Lake Como has been drawing A-list attention for years, but the EDITION joins a growing concentration of luxury brands around the lake. Mandarin Oriental, Passalacqua, and the Grand Hotel Tremezzo already anchor the ultra-premium segment.
The density of high-end options is pushing Lake Como toward year-round destination status, with spring and fall emerging as preferred seasons for travelers who want the scenery without the peak-summer crowds and prices.
