China Southern Airlines Starts Beijing-Helsinki Route Three Times Weekly

China Southern Airlines commenced service between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Helsinki three times weekly, operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The route restores a direct connection between China's capital and Finland that lapsed during the pandemic years. Helsinki's geographic position makes it the fastest hub for connections between East Asia and Northern Europe, with Finnair already operating the corridor as its signature route.

China Southern's entry adds competition and capacity on a route where demand has rebounded as Chinese outbound tourism recovers toward pre-pandemic levels. The carrier offers business and economy class, with connections through Daxing to domestic Chinese cities.

The launch is part of a broader wave of Chinese carriers rebuilding international networks. China Eastern Airlines also started Shanghai-Tashkent service in late March, opening a Central Asian connection that follows the Belt and Road tourism corridor.

For European travelers headed to China, the Helsinki-Beijing route offers a geographically efficient connection that avoids longer routing through Middle Eastern or Southeast Asian hubs.
